Why SheCamps?
SheCamps was born from my own need for a place to breathe.
After years of carrying responsibility, rebuilding my life, and learning how deeply stress can live in the body, I found something simple but powerful: nature helped me feel steady again.
Not instantly. Not perfectly. But little by little, being outside gave me space to hear myself, regulate my nervous system, and remember that strength does not always mean pushing through.
The name SheCamps also carries a deeper meaning.
It echoes a nearly forgotten piece of women’s history from the Great Depression, when women-centered camps were created to offer shelter, meals, education, training, recreation, and community to women who were struggling and often overlooked.
SheCamps is not a recreation of those camps. It is a modern response to a timeless need:
Women need spaces where they can breathe, reconnect, and remember their own strength.
That is the heart behind this work.
